Odessa port

Odessa, Ukraine – The Port of Odessa, one of Ukraine’s busiest ports, achieved a record high in container traffic in February 2022, according to port authorities.

During the month, the port handled 43,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), a 12% increase compared to the same period last year. The growth in container traffic was mainly driven by the increased demand for Ukrainian agricultural products and raw materials, as well as the implementation of new logistics solutions by major shipping lines.

The Port of Odessa has been expanding its container handling capabilities in recent years, with investments in new equipment and facilities. The port is also implementing digitalization initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce turnaround times.

“The record high container traffic in February demonstrates the resilience and competitiveness of the Port of Odessa in the face of global challenges,” said Oleksiy Voronov, Director of the Odessa Port Authority. “We are committed to continuing our efforts to provide world-class services to our customers and contribute to the economic growth of Ukraine.”

The Port of Odessa is the largest port in Ukraine and a key gateway for the country’s foreign trade. The port handles a wide range of cargo, including grains, fertilizers, oil and gas, and containers.
